Honorable Cathy McMorris Rodgers Former Congresswoman, Washington State’s 5th District (2004-2024)

Cathy McMorris Rodgers served as the U.S. Representative for Washington State’s 5th Congressional District from 2004 to 2024. She was the 200th woman ever elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and made history as the first woman to give birth three times while in office.

Throughout her two decades in Congress, Cathy’s life and work have been a testament to God’s mercy and grace, and His faithfulness in guiding her and her family. She has been a passionate advocate for prayer, speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, the Washington State Prayer Breakfast, and encouraging her colleagues and constituents to unite in prayer and daily Bible reading. She believes deeply in the power of prayer to bring hope and healing to families and the nation.

As a leader on Capitol Hill, Cathy worked tirelessly to restore trust in representative government and the rule of law. She has built a reputation as a trust-builder and ability-advocate, earning respect from both sides of the aisle. Cathy served in various leadership roles, including as Chair of the House Republican Conference from 2012 to 2018. She was also selected to deliver the Republican Response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address in January 2014.

Cathy’s leadership in policy was instrumental in shaping key legislation on energy, healthcare, and technology. As Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, she led initiatives to unleash American energy, lower healthcare costs, increase transparency, and protect privacy rights—particularly for children online. She was also the founding co-chair of the bipartisan, bicameral Abraham Accords Caucus and has visited Israel several times. In January 2022, she introduced H.R. 874 in support of a National Year of Humiliation, Fasting, and Prayer.

Growing up working at her family’s small business, Peach Crest Orchard and Fruit Stand in Kettle Falls, Washington, Cathy learned the value of hard work early. She graduated from Columbia River Christian Academy in 1986, earned a B.A. from Pensacola Christian College in 1990, and an Executive M.B.A. from the University of Washington in 2002.

Cathy is married to Brian Rodgers, a Spokane native and retired 26-year Navy Commander. Together, they have three children and are active members of Mosaic Fellowship in Spokane, Washington.
